Top Spots for Gourd Seeds For Sale

Earlier this year we highlighted how and when to get your gourd seeds in the ground.  Today we are going to show just where those gourd seeds for sale are, and how to get them.

If you aren’t familiar with the various varieties, below is a chart to help identify what seed/gourds you want to look for depending on what projects you will be working on.

The dipper gourds are the most universal, but there are several projects taking advantage of the long handles on the Long Gourds.

1) Gourding Destash on Facebook-

With over 1600 members there is a decent chance that you’ll find someone to off load some seeds.  It can take a bit of sifting through, and as independent sellers, you’ll need to work our payment that is agreeable to both sides.  You may also just find some used equipment or books your looking for – to say nothing of finding some whole gourds, so you can skip the planting process all together.

2) Your Local Nursery

Depending on where you are at, you may just be able to swing down to the local nursery or equivalent and find the seeds you are looking for.  If you get to the nursery and you find that they don’t have what you are looking for – ask them about special ordering in the breed you are looking for.

3) Gourd Farms

When it comes to gourd seeds for sale you can’t go wrong going to a gourd patch.  Perhaps you already live near a patch – what better reason do you need to go pay a visit.  If a patch isn’t nearby there are a number of patches online that can suit your needs.  Shipping rates shouldn’t be to big of an issue if you are just ordering seeds.  Welburn Gourds  is an excellent source.

4) Online Seed Distributor

Similar to buying from a gourd patch, many of the major seed producers have a selection of seeds to choose from.  We tend to avoid the “mix” packs, just because we believe its better to know whats coming up out of the ground.  Be sure to check their shipping policies, you want to qualify for free shipping.

5) Amazon

You can get everything on Amazon right?  More often than not you’ll find the seeds you are looking for, and it’s generally not to difficult to qualify for free shipping.  We find the search feature on Amazon even a little easier than some of the gourd farms or online seed distributors as well.  Speaking of gourd farms and online seed distributors – don’t be surprised when you see many of their products listed on Amazon AND at a cheaper price.
